Actor Johnny Wactor Tragically Killed Attempting to Stop Theft
Johnny Wactor, best known for his role in “General Hospital,” was tragically killed early Saturday while trying to prevent thieves from tampering with a vehicle in downtown Los Angeles. The 37-year-old actor is remembered by family and friends as a passionate and determined individual who navigated Hollywood’s challenges with resilience.
Scarlett Wactor, Johnny’s mother, confirmed his death and described him as “a light in a dark room.” She expressed the profound loss felt by his family, stating, “There is a significant void in our lives, and nothing can fill it.
Johnny, originally from Charleston, South Carolina, had aspired to act from a young age. He attended Rollings Middle School of the Arts and maintained contact with his theater instructor even after moving to Hollywood. Scarlett recalled the struggles her son faced in the industry, at one point fearing he might “starve to death out there.” Despite these challenges, she finds comfort in his body of work, hoping it helps her cope with his loss. “When I watch videos of Johnny, I like to think he’s performing in heaven and enjoying it,” she shared.
Johnny’s manager, Marco Cuadros, mourned the “senseless tragedy,” praising Johnny as a kind soul and talented actor. “His professionalism, enthusiasm, and love for his craft made him a joy to work with,” Cuadros said. “He pursued his dreams and achieved them, all while caring for others.”
David Shaul, Wactor’s agent, highlighted Johnny’s dedication and positive attitude throughout his career. “In the midst of triumphs and trials within his demanding career, he consistently maintained an optimistic outlook and pursued excellence with unwavering determination,” Shaul remarked. “Having spent more than a decade by his side, his departure leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts for eternity.”
The LAPD reported that Wactor was shot while trying to stop three men from stealing a catalytic converter from his car near Hope Street and Pico Boulevard. One of the suspects fired at him before they fled the scene. Police arrived at approximately 3:15 a.m., and paramedics transported Wactor to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No arrests have been made.
